The Torrey Pines Men’s Golf Club welcomes golfers of all skill levels who reside in San Diego County. The club organizes monthly weekend tournaments at Torrey Pines Golf Course and weekly midweek events. About half of our weekday events are held at Torrey Pines Golf Course with the other half played at some of the best public and private courses in San Diego County.
We are proud to be the only golf club in California whose members play two golf courses ranked in Golf Digest’s top 100 public courses in the United States. Torrey Pines GC hosted the 2008 US Open won by Tiger Woods in dramatic fashion and is also the home of the 2021 US Open. Torrey Pines GC is also the home of the Farmers Insurance Open and Junior World Golf Championship. Many of our members are actively involved as volunteers to support these championship events.
In addition to participating in our tournaments, members receive a bag tag, an annual member gift and are invited to attended two member meetings each year. And best of all: our home courses are spectacularly beautiful and among the most famous courses in the country!
HISTORY
The Torrey Pines Golf Course Men’s Club was founded in 1957 to provide a formally organized and competitive San Diego golf experience for San Diego city and county residents at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
COMPETITIONS
All of our tournaments are flighted so members are competing against golfers of similar ability. Prize money is awarded to the top 40% of the field based on their net scores. For individual tournaments, members with the best gross score in each flight also receive prize money. Members can redeem their awards at about 10 golf shops in the county.
We also have several major competitions during the year including Club Championship, Senior Club Championship, President’s Cup, and Better Ball of Partners. The winners of several of these major tournaments advance to SCGA Championship events.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Our club supports the community in a variety of ways. Many of our members volunteer to work at the Farmers Insurance Open, the US Open, the LPGA’s Kia Classic and other local golf events. Our club also provides financial support to local golf charities that are focused on growing the sport.
Pro Kids provides the opportunity for San Diego inner-city youth to access free golf and life-skills instruction, participate in their Learning Center classes and receive college scholarships.
